Joseph M. Verret, M.D.
I am the Medical Director and Licensed Psychiatrist at The Human Growth Center, and I have been working with the facility since 1990. I specialize in the treatment of adults 18 and over with chronic psychiatric disorders, addictions, co-occurring/dual diagnosis, forensic psychiatry, and geropsychiatry. I provide all psychiatric and medical evaluations as well as prescribing psychotropic medication. I am a firm believer in the power and effectiveness of both therapy and medication as needed to address all aspects of clients’ issues; therefore, your psychologist or therapist will typically join us in our medication sessions together. I am also knowledgeable in natural remedies, herbs, and supplements should you wish to explore a more holistic psychotropic approach.

Human Growth Center of New JerseyMichelle Mouhtis, MSW, LCSW.
I am the Director of Social Services and Clinician at the center, and I have been a part of HGCNJ since 2010. I strive to provide an empathetic and non-judgmental environment for my clients to be free to share their stories. I became interested in the field of counseling at a young age; I was always drawn to help others in need. This passion led me to pursue a Bachelors in Social Work from Ramapo College of New Jersey and subsequently a Masters in Social Work with a clinical counseling concentration from New York University. My experiences and specialties are in addictions, trauma, forensics, anxiety, and depression with children, adolescents, and adults. During my training, I came across the mind-body approach Energy Psychology. This powerful complementary technique has been able to unlock personal blocks and works tremendously for anxiety, stress management, depression, trauma, public speaking, sports/performance enhancement, and much more. During our sessions together, you will be able to choose if you would like to use this approach, traditional talk therapies, or a combination of both. I am also a Certified Divorce Mediator taking on new cases for mediation services. I feel blessed and honored to be a part of the healing process with my clients and those to come!
